Totaling 1500 yards of 8-inch-thick concrete pavement, Cipparrone Contracting performed some pristine and critical concrete pavement repairs along the heavily trafficked M-85 / Fort Street corridor, from Clark Avenue to Rosa Parks Blvd. in Detroit. Concrete for the full-depth roadway repairs was supplied by Hercules Concrete, making this the first MDOT project that the young company has supplied.
Despite accommodations such as doubling supply at certain locations, both Cipparrone and Hercules were able to complete repairs on the very busy section of roadway in a timely manner. It was a constant balancing act to supply orders, and not a single cubic yard of concrete was lost. Direct placement from trucks and roller screeding was used to place and strike off the concrete patches. These repairs should greatly extend the life of this critical downtown Detroit roadway.
