about the program

Alpena Community College's Concrete Technology program partners with the Michigan Concrete Association offering students a unique opportunity to earn an associate's degree in Applied Science. This program offers hands-on learning with technology and equipment housed in the World Center for Concrete Technology. 

AAS GRADUATES WILL . . . 

Have a strong broad based understanding of the technology in concrete. Students will develop their critical thinking skills through implementing trouble shooting techniques and offering constructive solutions to concrete centered problems. 

This program will cover not only the concrete industry and it's techniques, but other related industries and skills including:

  • Construction Inspection and Procedures 
  • Aggregates 
  • Cementitious Materials
  • Concrete Masonry 
  • Ready Mixed Concrete 
  • Admixtures 
  • Precast and Prestressed

CTM Curriculum:

The Concrete Technology program and AAS consists of 71 credits earned over a two year period. 

  • General Education Requirements - 26 credits
  • Core Program Requirements - 42 credits
  • Suggested Electives - 3 credits

More Information 

Certification

Although certification is not a requirement for this program, many graduates choose to earn state and national credentials. Alpena offers ACI/MCA Level 1 Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification and MCA Advanced Level 2 Concrete Technician Certification.
